ABOUT

A love letter to those who believe a home should read like a beautiful memoire…

and those who want to break some rules along the way…

Meet Lisa

My early years of obsessing over strawberry wallpaper and being a bona fide army brat taught me that home is something you create with intention and that change is exhilarating.

Before I officially pursued design, I spent a decade as an Account Director in some of Chicago's top ad agencies. Although the view from the 28th floor wasn't what I had dreamed of, advertising was an incredible boot camp. It gave me the project management teeth and budget precision to handle the nonsense of a project. I graduated from Harrington Institute of Interior Design in Chicago and worked for a handful of local designers before striking out on my own.

It's been over two decades since I put my own name over the door, years of putting my heart and soul in every project and many published projects under my belt.

our Magical Compass

No beige, please.

We thrive in a world of jewel tones and dream in wallpaper. I believe color and texture are the non-negotiables in every home. In fact, we have a saying: If it makes you a little uncomfortable, we are definitely on the right track.

The Blank Slate.

We crave a fresh canvas. We prioritize projects that allow us to conceive a vision from the floor up versus piecemealing a room together.

Let's be Real.

We can be crafty with a budget, but we are also a realist. There is only so much 'budget engineering' one can do before the magic disappears. Let's talk numbers from the beginning so there are no surprises.

Patina Over Perfection.

History matters. We believe a home should look lived-in, not staged. We have a deep reverence for the storied patina of an antique that only comes with love and time. We happily turn to your treasures for ideas and context and always push for antique or salvaged pieces. Here at LWD we are not in the business of sourcing throwaway items.

Keeping it Small.

My vision has always been boutique and intimate. We keep our roster small and selective so we can be thoroughly engaged in every creative detail. Design is very personal for us — this is your home and where you return at the end of the day and we never lose sight of that.

Trust, Trust, Trust.

We thrive with Clients who trust the process and trust our instinct. We are a boutique firm by choice, and in return, we seek partners who give us the freedom to do what we do: create magic. We do our absolute best work when we are given a very long leash.

One last thing…

I've built a business that I'm proud of with projects spanning from Chicago and the North Shore to the tranquil beaches of Michigan and balmy Miami. It's been built by repeat Clients and their gracious referrals time after time.

You bring your wish list and your wildest inspiration; I'll bring the vision and the plan to make it real.

Let's create something that lasts.

With color and conviction,
Lisa
